The Lutheran Church in Lavansville called to provide Christian education and worship for all ages. This church was an outgrowth from the Samuel’s German Lutheran Union Church. David Woy gave ground for the church building. The first church was organized in 1846 with Rev. Peter Riser as the pastor.

In 1847 Chauncey Berkey and Daniel Beatty built the first white frame church. In 1888 the first church was torn down and replaced with a brick church. This brick church was in the Gothic design. The cornerstone was laid on Sept. 30, 1888 and formally opened on March 8, 1890 with Rev. Edmund Manges. This church was destroyed by a fire caused by an overheated furnace on Feb 3, 1962.

The present third church was built on land from the John Bailey farm. This church was dedicated on Sunday Feb. 2, 1964 during the ministry of the Rev. Lloyd Wilson.
